SUNDANCE: Todd Parker boogies the night away with THE STATION AGENT!!!

Hey folks, Harry here with another wonderful report from Park City - where these first time directors seem to be whuppin' ass and taking names thus far... Here's Thomas McCarthy's debut film about a dwarf... that doesn't suck, but apparently rules! Well, here ya go...

harry:

you can call me todd parker. even better if you recognize the film reference. anyhow, i am one of the thousands enjoying sundance. and last night, i had the sheer pleasure of viewing what will undoubtedly become a cult classic. and it is a movie that is completely off of the radar. i left the theater with so much excitement, that i have to spread the word and ensure that this gem is distributed theatrically.

all right, you get the point. now on to the film. it is THE STATION AGENT. this touching, beautiful, and hysterical film is everything that an indie should be. it is the highly original story of fin, a relatively boring and quiet man. his waking hours are devoted to his lifelong obsession with the railroad. and fin just so happens to be a dwarf. after a series of events, fin inherits a train depot in rural new jersey. with no where to turn, fin packs his belongings and settles in the decrepit depot. fin sticks out like a sore thumb and he tries his damnedest to keep to himself. in the course of the film, fin befriends a handful of locals.

this is a special film and my description is hardly adequate. the audience enters the world of a dwarf. and it proves both heart-breaking and hysterically funny. this isn't about a goofy dwarf. THE STATION AGENT is about how everyone views fin.

i don't want to spoil the film, but i'll make one last comment in an effort to express my feelings for this film. i'm not one to laugh out loud in the theater. this film had me doubling over in laughter -- scene after scene. and i can't wait to see it again. the last time i laughed this hard in the theater was during the big lebowski. that's not to say that they are similar. in fact, THE STATION AGENT is as funny as lebowski but it has something that few films achieve. it is touching and substantial.

enough said. now help me get the word out.

thanks

Todd Parker
