Hey folks, Harry here... Bill Plympton is one of the most amazing filmmaking characters in the world. I've had the good fortune on many occassions to have met Bill - and my dream, would be if one of his films actually got distributed by one of the independents (un-screwed with) then was entered and supported into the BEST ANIMATED FEATURE category in the Academy Awards. Supporting Bill in his arduous and individual work of art... well... Ya know, that's the sort of thing that should be awarded, ya know? Here ya go...
Hey Harry, !! here again. Surprised that there's no buzz on the net about the next Bill Plympton film coming out! As I am a HUGE fan of his films (I Married A Strange Person is the funniest animated movie in the past decade...yes, that means funnier than SHREK). It's his follow up to the ultra-cool MUTANT ALIENS(premiered at Sundance 2001)...called HAIR HIGH. It's a high school horror comedy.....a throwback to the 50s high school days. There's the lovable loser (Spud), the jock, the chain-smoking teacher, etc...but in total PLYMPTON style. Check out Hairhigh.com for more pics, and the cool "Ani-CAM"...in which viewers can watch Plympton animate daily! The animation in this film looks like a step up in quality from his past features. If this film isn't on anyone's radar this year, it SHOULD BE! I cannot urge anyone more to support this indie animator who does all of the animation BY HIMSELF and creates features that are better than most of the crap the big studios are releasing today...HAIR HIGH is tentativley scheduled to hit theaters next fall....
