Tidbit of info on BIG FISH and the help of the geeks of Alabama!!!

Hey folks, Harry here... Three years ago... the world of BIG FISH was a shade of Spielberg's future, but the difference between now and then is it fell into the hands of Tim Burton, but the one thing that hasn't changed much at all is John August's script for BIG FISH, which Moriarty reviewed on the site back in 2000. (Click Here To Read That Thrilling Piece!) Well now the film is ... well, filming. This has a chance to be my favorite Tim Burton film... Fishing tales and that Southern knack for exaggeration and old horse tales... Well, its part of what being a southerner is all about... weaving tales of truths, half lies and all lies... all for the sake of telling the story and being entertaining... and never to hurt anyone. This could be great at a level we'd love to all see... and this and SECONDHAND LIONS (the film coming from Tim McCanlies and New Line later this year) will be a healthy dose of Southern Fantasy and Story Telling. I'm asking for you readers in Alabama to report what is going on in the world of Tim Burton. Just send it on in, seems that its making the news over there - we'd like to know more ourselves... Especially pictures and longer reports! Thanks!

Harry:

As an Austinite stuck in Alabama during the week (hey, it's a job!), I thought you might be interested in what the local news here is saying about the filming of Tim Burton's Big Fish.

Filming began today at 5:30 AM in Wetumpka, Alabama (near Montgomery). Today's shoot included a "homecoming" scene and for the next three days they will be shooting some other "present-day" scenes before moving on to other locations (and time periods?).

Needless to say, south-central Alabama doesn't get too many movies shot here, so it makes the news just about every night.

Take Care,

Joe
