Sunday’s “High School Reunion” scored the best ratings for its WB timeslot since Septmeber 1999, but that was nothing compared to Monday’s “Joe Millionaire,” which brought Fox its best Monday ratings in eight years.
Tonight ABC joins the reality party with “The Bachelorette” (9 p.m.) and “Celebrity Mole” (10 p.m.)
I’m on board with the always-solid “Mole” for certain, if only because the great and fearless Kathy Griffin (herself a rabid reality-show aficionado) can be relied upon to mock mercilessly the proceedings, the host and most of her fellow contestants.
I have doubts, however, as to whether the gender switch will succeed for “Bachelorette,” which centers around first-season rejectee Trista Rehn. Something tells me the “Bachelorette” guys are going to be able to handle rejection better than the “Bachelor” girls – but, Jesus, what if they don’t??
Just to give some of the other networks a fighting chance, let me just point out that NBC has “Sports Night” hottie Sabrina Lloyd” joining the “Ed” cast as a regular tonight, followed by a new “West Wing.” The WB burns off two of the last new hours of its cancelled Gotham City superhero saga “Birds of Prey.” UPN has a new T’Pol-centric “Enterprise” and Method Man guesting on “Twilight Zone.” Oh, and I want to thank CBS for hiring Asskissio Hall to host its “Star Search” revival tonight, ensuring that I will never watch it.
