Another set report from JERSEY GIRL!

Hey folks, Harry here with an odd sounding scene from JERSEY GIRL, doesn't seem to jive with the tone that I've heard the movie takes, but it may be a lite scene in a more dramatic film. We'll see. From what I hear, Kevin's done a helluva job and Vilmos Zsigmond has made sure that visually... we're delighted too! Here ya go...

hi there, Harry. i noticed a piece on Jersey Girl posted and wanted to let you know about the more interesting of the two days i spent on set. i was on call for Oct. 14th and 19th.

Kevin Smith and Jason Biggs hung out at the food cart in the morning. everyone respected their boudaries.

first, the scene (in which i play a reporter) was filmed at the Hard Rock Cafe in Center City, Philadelphia. the entire place was rented out and set up to look like a press conference. the scene takes place in 1991 (if i remember correctly). Ben Affleck and Jason Biggs were on the dais at the press conference where everyone is waiting for the arrival of Will "Fresh Prince" Smith. The Fresh Prince is late, and so we, the crowd grow impatient, at which point Ben (a PR guy?) loses it and screams a few expletives ending with something to the effect of "Will Smith is a flash in the pan." Ben has baby powder on his shirt. a reporter jokes that it's cocaine. when a baby cries, a reporter jokes "is that Jazzy Jeff?" the entire crowd sings the "I Dream of Jeannie" song to "Girls in the World Ain't Nothin' But Trouble". the acting was less than impressive. the writing seemed to be on par with the acting. Ben Affleck seemed to be a real Hard Guy in the morning. he loosened up and got silly thirteen hours later, to his credit. because a baby was there, 300 extras waited around for 5 hours so the baby could finish filming due to child labor laws.

all in all, it was a long day for a 30 second scene that may or may not make the final cut. does it look like his greatest? how the hell could anyone know after a day on the set?

odds and ends:

-Ben Affleck's hair looked very funny. it looked real, but very funny.

-Kevin Smith said about seven words all day. his second did almost everything.

You can call me Ray. or you can call me Jay. But you doesn't have to call me Late For Dinner.
