Hey, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab.
I missed Sundance last year, but I went the year before, and I enjoyed it as much as anything I’ve had the opportunity to do at AICN so far. This year, I’m working on going again, and it all depends on schedule.
When the list of films that will be screening at Sundance came out this week, it only made me more eager to go. There’s some really cool stuff on that list, and, as with every year, I’m willing to bet that there’s a lot of things that I don’t know yet that are going to be really remarkable.
If you’ve got a film playing the festival this year, then by all means... CONTACT ME!! I’d love to see as many films as I can before I go, like I did in 2001, and talk to you about your picture before you get buried in the mania surrounding the festival. If there’s something I see that’s really wonderful, I’d like to get the word out beforehand because Sundance really does become an exercise in choice. There’s always more than one thing going on at any given time, and if your film is worth it,I want to make sure people get the word early.

A new film from Oliver Stone? Another movie from Randy Redroad? Danny Boyle and zombies? New ones from Alex Proyas and Thomas Vinterberg and Neil Labute? Keith Gordon’s version of THE SINGING DETECTIVE? The second film from David Gordon Green following his shattering GEORGE WASHINGTON? The debut of Ted Demme’s documentary about the ‘70’s in film, something that’s sure to break the hearts of any of us lucky enough to have known him?
I am overwhelmed at first glance by that list, and I know I haven’t even scratched the surface. Please... I implore you... if you’re part of that incredible line-up, or if you’re representing one of those films, then get in touch with me as soon as possible, and let’s get this party started...
"Moriarty" out.
