Do you remember that damn cool S.W.A.T. theme, that cool ultra funky street sound? The music was by that dude that did the music for The Warriors and my fave XANADU and LOOKER. In other words it oozed coolness. Well ol Officer Francis Teng, Sgt. David "Deke" Kay, rookie officer James Street, and Lt Dan "Hondo" Harrelson are back on the job. Or at least TriStar wants them back on our streets. With episode titles like "Kill S.W.A.T." and "Officer Luca You're Dead" it seemed that TriStar's desire to have Renny Harlin at the helm seemed perfect. Too bad Renny decided to go with something at Warners called THE DEEP BLUE SEA, whatever the hell that is. Maaaaan, I don't even know what the hell that means. I think it's a body of water, but that's not important right now, we were talking about S.W.A.T.
They need to find someone with a funky feel and a hard driving action beat to direct this sucker, sounds like Michael Bay to me, but hey, let the man destroy man destroy the earth first. Getting real, I'd love to see Ringo Lam tackle this. He almost made a Van Damme movie that was cool, which is next to impossible given Mr Muscles. He deserves a shot at coolness and damn if those aggressive darn gun wielders wouldn't give it to him. Personally I wanna see Michael Biehn in this project, why isn't he in every project? Huh? I mean damn, the guy is like waaaaaaay coooool, and I think he'd be cool as hell in the old Robert Urich part. You'll be hearing "Roger That" and countdowns galore. This piece is fairly visceral. This film needs to, "move move Move MOVE!!!"
