Mr Thanks reviews DRUMLINE early!

Hey folks, Harry here... Like I said in my intro to the trailer for this film, I was a total band boy... loved it. A great family of friends that would all work to 'get the job done' and then let your hair down and party hard afterwards. I still remember being on the field, the drum major screaming, "Band!" and then we would all go from an erect standing at attention to one hand behind our backs and legs apart "at ease" as we screamed out a single knife of a word, "HEY!!!!!!!!" which sounded more like a lightning strike in the stands. Then Drum Major would begin to direct and we'd launch into our number and begin our marching. Sounds like the film delivers on some of these memories. Can't wait to see this....

Hi There Harry

I had the pleasure of seeing Drumline a few months ago at a screening but never wrote in about the experience. After seeing your tidbit I thought I'd put in my 2 cents, please excuse my lack of names:

Drumline was a really fun little movie with a lot of heart. It goes far beyond your typical "Bring It On" idiocy and touches upon some pretty relevant social issues without being too preachy.

The main character is a reckluse who was the best drummer in highschool and joins the college Drumline with an extremely cocky attitude and the guns to back it up. His Drum Solos are incredible and liven up a pretty boring Marching Band.

The conductor is getting pressure from the Dean of the school to spice up their performance to compete with the opposing schools band, but the conductor has an "Old School" mentality on how and what his band should be playing.

There is also a pretty intense competition between the lead drummer and the new drummer. The rivalry intesifies as the solos do making for some pretty riveting drum work.

With the arrival of the young new talent, the lives of the Conductor and the Drummer are changed through a very challenging, but ultimately rewarding relationship.

The best part of this movie is the excitement and enthusiasm of all the band members. I never understood how much of a microcosm of society a band is. For the newbies in band, there is a whole hazing ritual that they must go through to prove themselves. There are rules that all the band members must follow, break one, and you're out.

All in all this is a little diamond in the rough.

Mr. Thanks.
