FIREFLY Moving''

I am – Hercules!!

Is Joss Whedon’s “Firefly” moving to Wednesday nights? That’s what's suggested by Alex Strachan in Saturday’s Vancouver Sun:

"The 18-34 male demographic, Firefly's target audience, has better things to do on a Friday night than watch TV, even a show that hails from the mighty Joss Whedon, the creative inspiration behind Buffy the Vampire Slayer and a proven teller of fine yarns. A move may be in the offing, possibly to Wednesday nights, where Firefly would make a more friendly fit with Fastlane, Fox's flashy (and trashy) homage to male bonding and pedal-to-the-metal testosterone. One thing's fer sure: It can't stay where it is."

While Strachan doesn’t explain where he heard about this possible move to Wednesdays, he does mention earlier in the article “network schedule-makers.”

Herc, for one, likes the idea of getting “Firefly” out of the date-night ghetto, but thoroughly dislikes the idea of moving it to Wednesdays, which already has “Enterprise” and “Ed” at 8 p.m. and a real traffic jam of shows at 9 p.m., among them “The West Wing,” "The Amazing Race," “Birds of Prey,” “The Bachelor” and “The Twilight Zone.”

Were I one of these “network schedule-makers,” I’d give “Firefly” the 9 p.m. Monday timeslot of the just-cancelled “Girls Club.” Once a viewer gets past “Fear Factor,” there’s too little programming with teeth that night. There’s also so little laughtrack-free quality entertainment, I’m actually finding myself drawn out of desperation to the too-cuddly-by-half melodrama of “Everwood.”

Think about it. “Firefly.” In the old “Angel” timeslot, Mondays at 9. I know what I’d be watching!

(Thanks to “gritty shakermak” for the heads up!)
