Hey, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab.
Some afternoons, I just like watching trailers, even if I don’t particularly have an interest in the film being advertised. A well-cut trailer can yield more genuine entertainment than an entire feature sometimes because of the way things are put together. For example, I thought SHANGHAI NOON was entirely pleasant, if not particuarly memorable. The idea of a sequel doesn’t do anything for me, one way or another. I’m indifferent to it. The first trailer did nothing to sway me or make me less apathetic. This new trailer, however, is cut so well that I actually want to see the film now. I have a particular fondness for Owen Wilson’s disbelieving “What in our history together makes you think I’m capable of that?!”

DARK BLUE has an interesting pedigree. Ron Shelton. James Ellroy. I thought the script, back when it was called THE PLAGUE SEASON, was okay but unspectacular. I can’t tell from the final trailer if they’re dealing with it as a period film, detailing the days around the LA Riots in the early ‘90s. The soundtrack says no, but some of the images say yes. Overall, this one just didn’t work for me, but take a look for yourself.

Last up, Apple went back and added different size files for their FINDING NEMO trailer, including a jaw-dropping fullscreen version. I’ve shown this trailer to several friends now, and it entrances people. It’s a good thing John Lassiter and his entire gifted band of lunatics seem to be benevolent and kind, because if brains like theirs were ever turned to evil, we’d all be working for them within a week.
