So, what was the no-longer secret title? I don't know, but there's a part of me that really wants to see a movie titled John Waters' ASHTRAY, but that's probably just me. "Everybody's butt ends up in John Waters' ASHTRAY!" Sorry, it's the sicker side of me that needs chemo and electro therapy... please! Here ya go, all good news follows!
I Have never had anything to report but you might like this small tidbit.
I was in the audience for John Waters "Shock Value" . At the Savannah College of Art and Design Film Festival.
He let a couple of things out about two of his upcoming projects. His next movie will be about sex obsessions of the working class and sex addiction. He says that he wanted to make a new Dirty movie more like his older films. He also let the title slip however it fell through a ...hhhhhole in my brain.
His other project he says is still in development with the producer who he made the Simsons episode . With any luck he will be a cartoon character again on MTV called "Uncle John".
that is all the real news. I loved the talk and it did not overlap any of the other things i had heard from him, Shock value book and director's commentaries. He did have a funny aside which he asked why the craft service did not get their own commentary "I put salt in that bitch's food and she did not die"

Hey Harry!
I'm a current resident in Savannah, GA and have been attended their annual film festival this week. As usual, they have a pretty dull line-up with ONE interesting guest speaker...and I was completely stunned that this year they were able to get none other than the "Pope of Trash" himself, JOHN FUCKIN WATERS!!!
So tonight I showed up for the event at the Lucas Theatre. It was a sold-out show and the crowd went completely ballistic from the moment he stepped out. He shared anecdotes about all his films, talked about all his favorite collaborators (Divine, Edith Massey, Traci Lords, ect), and gave his usual views on art and bad taste. Overall, it was less of a lecture and more like stand-up (felt like one of his audio commentaries). I swear, that man is one of the greatest personalities of all time!
Anyways...at the end of the night John said that he is currently writing his new movie. He quoted George W Bush as saying something like "Now is the time to revisit the things you did best" and said that he felt it was a personal challenge to him (hehehe)...so he's doing another old school "filth" midnight movie in the vein of his early "Dreamland" days! Needless to say, the crowd went apeshit!
He mentioned the title, but dammit....it completely escapes my memory (I should have brought a notepad)!!!! From what I remember of the details, the film deals with a group of guys venturing through the Baltimore underground in search of the most filth and depravity they can handle (but I forget the "whys" and "hows" - damn my feeble brain!!!)
Wish I had more of the details, but thought that this was good info to send your share nonetheless.
Finally...we're getting an ultra-sick Waters flick again! Something tells me that Herschell Gordan Lewis' return might have influenced this decision too!
