Hey folks, Harry here. I'm taking a bit of a vacation for 2 weeks. After the recent... issues with me and a certain person on this site, I've decided to reexamine my love for cinema, flicks, movies and shadowplays. The vitrol and hate I've seen in the last few days has... well made me question why I run AICN. I'll be gone for this period of time and think about whether or not I want to continue running this site... or perhaps go into the male gigolo business, since apparently so many find me so friggin' sexy.
Hehehehe.... Actually, I'm going to SITGES FILM FESTIVAL just west of Barcelona along the Spanish Riviera. So keep your eyes in the British Tabloids for those long lens zoom shots of my nude body on the beach... It'll give ya something to enjoy, you naughty boys you! hehehehe
What am I doing at this festival? Well, diving into one of the world's greatest genre film festivals. TONS OF FILMS - I'll be seeing about 5 a day from a selection of the best international and domestic horror, sci-fi, suspense, fantasy, animation, western, etc films made. No inane romantic comedies, no bittersweet age of discovery films... Unless MAY counts... ...no films about teachers that make a difference only to lose the students they care for. Zero Reese Witherspoon Romantic Garbage. Oh, it'll be a utopia!
Films like - Jaume Balaguero's DARKNESS with Anna Paquin, Tsui Hark's ZU WARRIORS on the big screen, CABIN FEVER, Terence Fisher's classic HORROR OF DRACULA, Takashi Miike's ICHI THE KILLER, Hiroshi Shimizu's CHICKEN HEART, the Pang Brother's THE EYE, Asesino En Serio by Antonio Urrutia starring the greatest actor on the surface of Earth.... Santiago Segura! Something called BANGKOK HAUNTED, Tsukamoto's A SNAKE OF JUNE, Vincenzo Natali's CYPHER - his second film after CUBE! Nakata's DARK WATER... The very intriguing first film from Michael Bassett... DEATHWATCH, RUSSIAN ARK, Cronenberg's SPIDER, Miyazakisan's SPIRITED AWAY, TED BUNDY and more and more and more and more. Like the genius Alex de la Iglesia's 800 BALAS!!! Hundreds of genre films...
Attending with me as SPIES - will be Tim and Karrie League of Alamo Drafthouse fame - to help search for not only the perfect films for BUTT-NUMB-A-THON 4 - but an onslaught of great material to program at the Drafthouse throughout the rest of this year and next!!!! They are also going with the idea of FILING REPORTS!!! YEEHAAAWWWW!!!!
I'm not sure what my email or web access will be like there, but continue to send your mail to Harry@AintItCool.Com because if I don't respond, then I'm sure Moriarty will... or at the very least he'll follow up on leads and stories. Hopefully you'll be hearing from me throughout the festival!!! Also, I'll be staying at Meliá Gran Sitges Hotel -- With the International Phone Number : Tel: Int + 34 93 811 08 11 SELECTED- See you folks in SPAIN!!!!!
