So You Want To Attend BUTT-NUMB-A-THON 4... Click Here To Find Out How!!!

Hey folks, Harry here... There are two types of tickets available to you folks out there. The folks in and around Austin and central Texas -- then the other half of the tickets which go to the folks OnLine. This year there will be no line. I had so many complaints about the line last year, plus we had some crazy folks that were threatening to camp 2 weeks for tickets this year... So Tim at the ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE and I hatched a new plan just for the "locals"! Here's Tim to begin to tell you about it:

OK Boys and Girls, it's time for an update on the Dusk Til Dawn Horror-Rama, many of the details are still pending, and the schedule is subject to change, but we feel it is time to clue you in to a few of the details.

First, we have secured a location: an abandoned insane asylum on the outskirts of Austin (a 10 minute drive from downtown), within a stone's throw of an operating maximum security prison facility.  You may want to check the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Fugitive Watch before coming on the 19th.  The Alamo accepts no liability for acts of violence perpetrated by either escaped convicts from the prison or the potential rogue gang of refugees from the insane asylum.

Second, we have matched the programming of the night to the location.  We will be feasting on an orgy of Insane Asylum classics, with the chance of one or two odd curveballs for good measure.

The line-up so far:

Shock Corridor: Sam Fuller's 1963 classic follows an ambitious young journalist as he infiltrates an insane asylum to solve a murder witnessed only by three of the patients inside.  The deeper he digs into the case, however, the stranger things become.  A perfect start to the evening, for, like the protagonist, we all will be infiltrating an insane asylum and God knows if we will make it out alive.

Next up:

Dr. Tarr's Dungeon of Death.  You can't find a lunatic asylum wilder than that of Dr. Tarr.  This film is a Eurotrash version of the Edgar Allen Poe story of the lunatics who have taken over the asylum.  Packed to the gills with a vibrant array of bizarre imagery and sounds, creepy puppetry, feathery chicken men, and lots of women whose take on insanity is to wantonly prance around topless.  This film runs the real risk of truly driving the audience insane.

Mystery Film:  We can't reveal all of our cards, or else there would be no drama to the evening!

Following the Mystery Film:

Alone in the Dark: A power outage at the insane asylum leaves the door wide for a gang of the criminally insane (including the power trio of Jack Palance, Donald Pleasence and Martin Landau) to escape and terrorize a doctor and his family.  The doctor is played by Dwight Schultz, best known as Mad Dog Murdock from the beloved A-Team!  Power outages are a very real concern in the central Texas area.  Lets just hope the prison has a well-maintained emergency generator for its electric fences.

Final film of the night:  A sneak preview surprise of an upcoming horror film slated for release next year.  This film will blow you away, just the right cup of adrenaline fuel to bring us home to the safety of dawn. The unofficial U.S. Premiere!

Of course, we will have loads of horror trailers between shows and a few unannounced surprises.  Check back to the website from time to time for more updates. Also, Click Here To Purchase Your Ticket For The All Nite Horror Thon Here!!! The event is Saturday, October 19th beginning at 8pm sharp!

The final update is perhaps the most important.  It has to do with Butt-Numb-A-Thon (BNAT),  Harry Knowles' legendary 24 hour birthday movie marathon.  These are hands-down the most coveted  Alamo tickets of the year.  Last year, folks waited in line for 3 days to get tickets.  This year it's going to be a little different.  In order to have the right to buy tickets to BNAT, you must come to the Dusk Til Dawn Horror-Rama on October 19th and you must be in costume.  At the break of dawn, after the final film of the evening, we will draw 75 names, lottery style, from the pool of folks who are still in costume.  These 75 people will have the first option to come to Butt-Numb-A-Thon.  THIS IS THE ONLY WAY FOR LOCALS TO GET TICKETS TO BUTT-NUMB-A-THON.  There will be no line this year, the remainder of the tickets will be given to out-of-towners via lottery, the same way we did last year.  So if you want to come to BNAT, we'll see you at the asylum!

Hey folks, Harry here again. Tim and I have been planning this Dusk Til Dawn Horror Thon for the better part of the year, and man is it gonna kick some heavy duty ass. I mean, takes place at an Abandoned Insane Asylum with a Pauper's Cemetary on premises PLUS it overlooks a Prison! So you have Psychos, the Undead and Murderers all in the immediate vicinity!!! How Cool Is That???

Ok, about the costumes for you locals... Have fun with it, but realize... this isn't a costume contest, you just have to be in some sort of costume to get a raffle ticket to get a chance to buy your ticket for this year's BNAT! Now, Tim and I will judge whether or not you are really in a costume, but think about the location and realize... This will be all night long with killer fucking movies. Now, here's the thing. Technically after you enter you can take the costume off and be naked, but you must have the costume back on when we draw your ticket number - and you must still have your ticket - and you must be awake to hear the number and present to take advantage.

Now, remember - nobody that waited in line last year less than 12 hours got tickets - so actually - this is going to be EASIER on you than last year, plus we've got great entertainment and the threat of certain doom from psychos, the undead and murderers!!! Ain't it Cool?!?!?!

As for you OnLiners, Out-of-Staters and Geeks Overseas... Here's how you get tickets. The last several years we've done the Send your Email Lottery fashion and frankly... that's no fun. So this time, I'm gonna have fun with it. On October 19th, 2002 at 12 Noon Central Standard Time (that's 1pm East Coast, 2pm Atlantic Time, 11am Mountain and 10am Pacific) you must send an essay no longer than 500 words describing exactly why you deserve to go to Butt-Numb-A-Thon 4 instead of your best friend, where you are from and a why this is important to you. Feel free to be silly, serious, whatever. And don't worry... Your best friend will be there, if you are because each winner gets an option to buy 2 tickets... It'll just be fun The E-mail address is Bnat4@aintitcoolmail.com OH... and here's a couple of rules. If you send your submission twice you'll be thrown out. If you send the same essay under different names you'll be thrown out. The submissions will only be accepted for as many emails as this email box can hold. So be prompt!

How is Butt-Numb-A-Thon 4 coming along? I'm in talks with several very cool films about coming. Some really cool ones have committed, and I've found some rare treats to show you this year as well. Just 2 days ago I received 7 Feet of Giant Boxes filled with cool stuff to give away this year to all you folks, and that's just the beginning. Also, this year everyone will be getting a Starbuck's DoubleShot Frap! Plus Cans of PENGUINS CAFFIENATED PEPPERMINTS and CINNAMONS!!! And a few lucky bastards will get the coveted Caffienated Chocolate Mints!!! MMMmmMmMmmMMmmm!!!

Tim is currently working up the budget for this year's BNAT - and soon as he finds out about T-shirt Printings for the survivor shirts... And a couple of other goodies, we'll get you all that information. BNAT 4 will run from 12noon on December 14th to (ideally) 12noon December 15th. Though we tend to go over each year, to the delight of all.

All profits from Butt-Numb-A-Thon 4, like the previous years, go to support the Saturday Morning Film Club For Kids in conjunction with Big Brothers Big Sisters, The Austin Chronicle, The Alamo Drafthouse amongst others. Though this event is 100% of the SMFCFK's annual budget, where we show children movies that they otherwise might never get a chance to see, like yesterday's screening of the 1950 Classic KING SOLOMON'S MINES! And next month's ABBOTT & COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN!
