So are they going to make the movie with two chewing gum foil wrappers, a hand mirror, and a car battery?
Sorry. I’m sure that’s going to be a pretty common joke as this news is relayed in a series of “Can you believe they bought THAT?” conversations today. Toby Emmerich and Richard Brener are going to supervise the film for New Line, according to the story in THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.
Lee Zlotoff, who created the show originally, is set to write and direct the new film. Pretty big deal for him, looks like. He made the 1996 indie THE SPITFIRE GRILL, but since then he’s been working primarily in TV. If this is going to work as a feature film, he’s going to have to create something very different than TV, and I’m surprised New Line hired him to do everything on the film. Producing, I could see. This is a leap of faith for the studio, and I imagine he must have had a hell of a pitch to have made this happen.
