A disappointed look at Michelle Yeoh's THE TOUCH!

Hey folks, Harry here... After that wonderful trailer we saw for THE TOUCH I was really hoping that the film would be something special... and just because we got one negative look at it, doesn't mean it is a bad movie, just that it might not be for everyone. Although, saying that, this is pretty harsh. Here ya go...

Dear Harry,

Don't know if u remember but I wrote in and you publish my gushing article on Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon - thanx for that but this time it's gonna be slightly different. I'm a Chinese from Singapore and have just seen the special preview of The Touch.

I've left the cinema barely 45 mins ago and am still in pain; I was apprehensive when I saw the first trailer but the second trailer actually made everything looked better and I went for the preview tonight, whereby Michelle Yeoh & Peter Pau were special guests, with hopeful anticipation. I have the highest respect for Michelle Yeoh as she's out there taking all the hard knocks, bruises and broken bones for the sake of making Chinese films just that little more better known and accepted. I so very much wanted this show to work out but I was so very disappointed....

The script was cliche-ridden; some of the characters are standard stereotypical kung fu baddie, the fight cheoreography was incoherent at parts, CGI was overused and so obviously artificial, story was not properly developed, some concepts and cringe-worthy Oriental sounding philosophy was so obviously pandering to the Western fixation on Tibet. Somebody has to PAY for this mess! But Ms Yeoh is exempted, of course. I don't doubt her sincerity in making this film but something seriously went wrong with the execution! It would really help if they don't ALL speak English as some of these wonderful veteren Taiwanese and Chinese actors have such difficulty enunciating that they look so obviously ACTING instead of the natural performers I know them to be. Sigh........

I honestly hope that this film would not set back the tide of Oriental invasion that Crouching Tiger ushered into Hollywood. C'mon, if this gets published, would someone else who have seen the show wrote in and prove me wrong; that I may concede that I've been too cynical, that my expectations were too high, that it wasn't that bad a show after all???

I'm not even gonna mention the storyline as it's somewhat jumbled at part except to say it's a race between a Western baddie and a Chinese acrobat to retrieve a Oriental relic that would unleash tremendous power for the bearer.

C'mon, c'mon! Somebody, anybody, write in and give an alternative view, PLEASE!!
