Takashi Miike offers to take you... To SHANGRI-LA -- This won't be no Capra Film though!

Hey folks, Harry here... I was watching ICHI THE KILLER the other day, and I had just watched the BLADE 2 dvd that's coming out soon, and Guillermo Del Toro was talking about having to digitally remove cum from the glass of the hootchie-cootchie joint in order to get his R, because cum on a window was too much... and as I watched the title ICHI THE KILLER form out of the discarded window sill splooge of a man jacking off while watching a brutal rape... I realized... for the 50000000 time in my life... THE MPAA SUCKS! Anyway, here's the latest on what is coming from the rabid dog of modern cinema... Takashi Miike

Hey Harry and co.

Bunta here again with news of yet another new Takashi Miike movie set to open in Japan on August 3rd. No rest for the wicked, I guess. It is called Togenkyo no hitobito (PEOPLE OF UTOPIA is a literal translation, but the international title is SHANGRI-LA) and stars hard-boiled actor Akikawa Show, who played "cop on the edge" in Miike's Dead or Alive, as (get this) a shaggy-haired homeless guy who looks like a dead ringer for Whoopi Goldberg!

Seems Miike's latest is a Renoir-ish drama-comedy about a loveable gang of homeless guys, led by Raggedy Show, who defend their encampment against encroaching evil real estate dudes. "Heartwarming" and "Homeless" are usually words reserved for A very specific kind of movie hell (With Honors anyone?), but with madman Miike in control there's no telling in advance what kind of flick this ultimately will be.

Maybe, Aikawa Show will shoot lasers out of his eyeballs in the last reel or something. Bunta waits either way with baited breath.
