Hey folks, Harry here... There's some pretty cool special events coming up here in Austin in the upcoming week and beyond that some of you may want to be aware of. First up is this screening of Mario Bava's last film... KIDNAPPED which is showing this THURSDAY, here's the details on that....
"Kidnapped" is the one film that Mario Bava failed to complete and release. With financial assistance from Kismet Entertainment, the film was recently restored and completed consistent with Bava's director notes.
The film was Bava's only pyschological thriller and is told in real time. It's an edge of your seat type film that starts with four criminals robbing a company's payroll and are being pursued by the police. To avoid capture, the thugs carjack a vehicle with a woman, a man and a sick boy. The rest of the film takes place in the car as we watch the car's occupants succumb to temptation, greed, and distrust. But things are not always as the appear, and Bava sets you up for his finest twist ending and shocking conclusion. Click Here For the Official Website!!!

Then Possibly the coolest of all the events, in Early September... JAWS happens like you've never had it happen to you before. This ain't no safe swimming pool pussy screening, this is out on Lake Travis where there are rumored to be man-eating 25 ft Catfish searching for oversized wormy legs like yours to chow down upon. You'll be in the water like the crew of the Indianapolis with AICN's own Quint - will he or will he not wear a lifejacket? Hmmmm? Aren't you dying to see for yourself? Here's the details...

THE ULTIMATE JAWS EXPERIENCE!!!
Presented by the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema and Deep Blue Scuba (1975, d. Steven Spielberg, PG, 124 min) Jaws was the first movie I saw that did damage to my psyche. My mother was at the opera, my dad took me to see Jaws. I was 6 years old. Every family beach outing for the next 5 years left me inwardly petrified of the razor sharp teeth of the great white shark. We here at the Rolling Roadshow wondered, if a movie alone can deliver that level of emotional wallop, what would happen if you were watching Jaws on a 40' floating screen in the middle of the night with your feet dangling in a vast expanse of deep, dark water? The time for this question to remain hypothetical has ended. Welcome to the ULTIMATE JAWS EXPERIENCE. To commemorate the striking of a brand new 35mm print of the original Jaws, the Rolling Roadshow is taking the traveling rig to an undisclosed secret location, where audience members will float on an inner tube and experience the most intense movie experience of the summer. Now we're not necessarily going to stock the lake with man-eaters and chum the surrounding water, but let's just say, the horror on the screen is not all you'll have to watch out for. Due to the dangerous nature of this event, we will not allow ANY drinking of alcoholic beverages before the screening. To calm your nerves afterwards, however, your ticket includes some liquid sedative to help you sleep. Check back here for more details and ticket information, and we will be emailing tickets holders with full details. Showings (click on a show time to buy tickets):
