POLITICALLY INCORRECT Finale!!

I am – Hercules!!

“Stanley Spector” writes:

Dear Mighty Hercules,

As I'm sure you know, tonight is the last episode of Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher. I, and I'm sure many other fans (and detractors) of the show, would greatly appreciate a forum in which we would be able to discuss the implications of the show's unfortunate, though not at all surprising, cancellation by ABC despite consistently strong ratings over the years.

I could go on and on here about what the series meant to everyone who watched it, and American democracy in general, but you've also probably heard all of that before, so I will simply sum up my feelings of the show by saying that it was perhaps the only series on American network television that one could become a better person for having watched.

Thank you for considering this.

Sincerely,

Stanley Spector

Jay Leno’s miserable chatfest has never been anything but impossible to watch, and Bill Maher always presented a viable alternative when Dave’s second guest was a zookeeper or a basketball star.

The best thing about “PI” was probably its willingness to book truckloads of funny people and give them something to talk about. Maher always had a keen eye for comedy, so we got to see a lot of Al Franken, Chris Rock, Sarah Silverman, Janeane Garofalo, Larry Gelbart, Kevin Meaney, Gilbert Gottfried, Jon Lovitz, George Wallace and their ilk.

Seven months till Jimmy Kimmel.
