Hey, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab.
Here’s a mini-review of a film starring geek fave Jason Lee, but in romantic comedy mode, a la KISSING A FOOL. Not sure his audience will follow him there, and this review doesn’t really convince me to change my mind. See what you think...
hey first time contributer but long time reader here. i just got back from seeing A GUY THING starring Jason Lee, Julia Stiles, and Selma Blair and let me just say that this is a movie that could and should do the kind of business that MEET THE PARENTS did two years ago. **Minor Spoiler Warning* the movie is the story of Jason Lee's character, who through unknown circumstances ends up in bed with Julia Stiles the morning after his bachelor's party. Julia Stiles also happens to be his fiance's cousin. but this isn't like Jason Lee's character at all. he's the nice guy who's afraid to take risks and always takes the safest and easiest route. Selma Blair plays his fiance, but the main characters here are Jason Lee and Julia Stiles. i've been a big fan of Jason Lee ever since MALLRATS and consider him to be the perfect guy for the role. although i've never been fond of Julia Stil! es, she does a really good job of keeping up with Lee. i loved this movie for a number of reasons: 1) Jason Lee gets to play a leading man and proves that he deserves to be a leading man 2) The very funny bit about the dance instructor being "incredibly graceful" 3) an incident with crabs and an office presentation 4) marijuana in the chicken at the wedding-rehearsal dinner 5) family interaction that completely blows MEET THE PARENTS away, and so on. i don't want to give too much away. i went into the movie expecting the worst but left feeling like i just was one of the best comedies in years. the people from MGM didn't give us a release date or anything but i'm assuming a Thanksgiving holiday release. that's all for now.
