Here's Prankster again with another SIGGRAPH update! Apparently yesterday ILM did a CG showing of some of the test and/or finished animation they have done for UNIVERSAL's FRANKENSTEIN. If you have seen this, PLEEEAAASSEEE tell me what was there, how it looked, and how much drool you drooled..
The Prankster again, still coming to you live from SIGGRAPH. I've been kidnapped by an evil team of swedish and polynesian bikini models who are keeping me in a hot tub with them and forcing me to drink martini after martini. I managed to slip out while they were changing, but they'll notice I'm gone in a minute, so I'll keep this brief. It's a couple of additions to my report of yesterday.
--I can confrim that SPIRIT is Dreamworks' third classically animated feature, after POE and El Dorado. It will be in a unique style, a western folktale told from the point of view of the horses. The horses will not talk...instead the story will be in voiceover, like a tall tale.
--ASH has been greenlighted. For some reason this isn't being considered a conventional animated feature, so I don't know if we'll see it after Spirit or before. It will combine eastern and western animation styles.
--There are a whole slew of direct-to-video sequels to Disney movies on the way. Pocahontas II will involve Pokey travelling to Europe (there's a funky drawing of her in a 16th century dress and powdered wig...pretty funky). The Little Mermaid II will involve the DAUGHTER of Ariel and Eric...apperantly she goes through the same thing her mother did, only this time it's a human girl who wants to become a mermaid. Lion King II is called Simba's Pride. Hunchback II is also on the way. In case you're wondering what I think of all this, my response is, BLEEEECCCCHHH.
Oh No! They're bringing out the chocolate cake. Um...EVIL chocolate cake. Gotta go back...to tub....can't help it...say a prayer for me, geeks of the world....
