According to Silent Bob of Australia the production is based in Cairns in Far North Queensland (that's a state in Australia) and the shooting is taking place to the north around the Daintree River. The budget is $65 million and the scripts was written by Malick and he's been working on it since 1989. The Producers are Michael Geisler and John Roberdeau, and 200 local extras (local to Australia) including 50 Pacific islanders were cast with an extra 300 being brought in for some of the battle scenes.
I should be hearing alot more sometime this weekend.
