Hey folks, Harry here... I've been lucky enough in my life to know and get to spend a good deal of quality time with both Guillermo Del Toro and Ray Harryhausen. If you are a fan of cool genre films, you will never... In your entire life meet two more gracious and heartwarmingly real lovers of the potential that the imagination has in cinema. NOW... your mission... Ray Harryhausen recently has returned from New Zealand where he screened his films for WETA and the crew on LORD OF THE RINGS - Since Peter Jackson and crew are lifelong Harryhausen lovers! Someone at this event... Ask Harryhausen what he thought of the footage he saw from LORD OF THE RINGS: TWO TOWERS!!! Hehehehe... That's right, I'm planting YOU in the audience with this mission. Now I'll tell you a brief story I heard from his visit to New Zealand and WETA. Apparently after Ray being dazzled by whiz-bang tricks of wiley Kiwi-ers, they were walking along when apparently a dog crossed in front of them, to which Ray asked, "Was that CG too, I really can't tell anymore..."
Hi guys,
I'm writing to you from Montreal, where I know we lost FANTASIA for the summer, but at least we have a chance to take a 2-hour drive to Lake Placid, New York this Saturday (June 8th) to the Lake Placid Film Forum where special guest Ray Harryhausen will be part of a roundtable moderated by Guillermo Del Toro on THE ART OF SPECIAL EFFECTS. It's preceded by a screening of JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS. Details are at LakePlacidFilmForum.Com
Getting to see JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS onscreen is always a treat; getting to see it onscreen with Ray Harryhausen in the audience isn't something you get to do everyday.
You can call me Samson Shillitoe.
