Two prefaces to the post below:
1) Many many months ago, I was forwarded some “sides” (script pages for auditioning actors) for Fairuza Balk’s “Sopranos” FBI agent role, so I had an inkling that something was up. (SPOILER: Adriana will learn of the FBI girl's true identity and Christopher’s moll will reluctantly conspire against Tony’s crew in season four.)
2) I had no idea about John Randolph erasure from “Seinfeld,” and it frankly strikes me as an incredibly odd thing for the producers to do. Didn’t Jerry also have a different parent in the early episodes? And isn’t that Seinfeld parent still seen in syndication? Wacky!

Hi,Harry. Although I see little about The Sopranos on your site,I thought you might find this item of interest. On the final episode of the third season, actress Fairuza Balk (Return to Oz, The Craft) played an F.B.I. agent assigned to go undercover and gather information from mob girlfriend Adriana (Drea DeMatteo). This past Sunday that episode was rerun with Balk's scenes reshot with a different actress, Lola Glaudini. According to the N.Y. Daily News, HBO termed this "a creative decision." One might speculate that due to the extra-long series hiatus Ms. Balk was no longer available. A similar thing was done a few years back for an episode of Seinfeld when John Randolph's scenes as Frank Costanza were reshot with Jerry Stiller for syndication. Looks like T.V. isn't immune to the Special Edition Syndrome that's been affecting movies. n Wilbur Gray
FYI, Lola Glaudini is best known for playing Dolores Mayo during the first half of “NYPD Blue’s” sixth season.
