PRINCE OF EGYPT!!

MAN!!! Cool, yesterday it was TARZAN, today it's PRINCE OF EGYPT. Like I said, I love animation and here we have still more. The interesting bit is that both suppliers seem to respect the other side of the fence. Who knows maybe it will spread. But first check out the new PRINCE OF EGYPT trailer by going here!!! Now maybe some of you will begin to understand that report I filed from seeing the DREAMWORKS "Prince of Egypt" footage. Even in postage stamp size it still blows me away. I can't wait to see this stuff big. Boy oh Boy oh Boy!!! Well here's the counterpart of Disney's Sir Etch-A-Sketch.... SIR MAGNA-DOODLE... (these guys are so cornball, I love em)

Whatsup boss-man,

Beings that I and my fellow friends have been watching with great interest the scribblings of that Sir Etch-A-Sketch guy and his roost at the House of Mouse from which he crows, we figured it would only be fitting that we come together under the name of Sir Magna-Doodle, the far superior toy. :) Actually, we are quite happy to see some of the pencils from Disney. Many of we animators used to be housed and clothed by the mouse house and it's nice to see them continuing to do good work. In fact some of us see this whole PRINCE OF EGYPT as an interpretation of the mass exodus we animators took to come to DreamWorks. I'm not going to say "Our work is the best," I'll let the work speak for itself, but the one thing I think you will be impressed by is the acting our drawn characters will be doing. For example, there are three shots of Moses I've sent you that are all very close to one another in shot framing. These three shots represent a tiny bit of the 'acting' that Moses gives us when he's speaking to GOD.

In a lot of ways DreamWorks Animation is a brother to Disney Animation. We all learned together, drew together and we made films together. That's why we/I wanted to chime in. There seems to be a sense of animosity between us. This is very regrettable. I don't feel that any good will come of cursing each others' projects by stacking up product. I agree with Sir Etch-A-Sketch, and if he's in marketing, I'm a monkey's uncle. He sounds like an animator trying to sound like a marketer. But I digress, right now there is a new trailer hitting theaters that shows the power that Prince of Egypt has. I'm immensely proud to be working on it. Why? Well, I feel it is genuinely a step forward. I've always felt that animation could be made for an older audience, and with PRINCE OF EGYPT we have that. FRITZ THE CAT and HEAVY TRAFFIC were bold experiments, but they celebrated in a low brow adolescent "Ewww look, we can show breasts!!" attitude that alienated a lot of people. Personally, what I hope comes out of Prince Of Egypt is a faith in stretching the current limits of the animation market. I'd love to see it give WARNERS the faith to give Bruce Timm and Paul Dini the reins to do a big budget animated flick. I've always admired your advocating for those guys, of course I can't help but think highlighting animators and animation professionals brings awareness to the whole. I hope you can see what we are attempting here.

Sir Magna-Doodle
