Ok folks, apparently all is safe. Call off the hounds, continue sucking on your everlasting gobstoppers. Apparently the original source for the heinous rumor was via a National Enquirer rumor monger that was on HOWARD STERN like on Friday. He also mentioned how Jacko wanted to add his own songs. Meanwhile, thanks to the wonderful world of spies I got a ton of concerned citizens sending in their, "IT'S NOT TRUE HARRY, THERE IS A SANTA CLAUS!" Apparently quite a few years ago, Jacko, wanted to do it, but the Dahl estate took a breath and said, "NO!" Then recently Variety announced Warner Brothers' eagerness to do a remake, but also mentioned the Dahl estate unwillingness to part again with the property. But to put a better spin on it all is Piltdown Man....
The rumor about Willy Wonka is almost definitely not true. The Dahl estate has long disdained the original version of the film (as much as any of the rest of us may have loved it). They control the remake and sequel rights. While numerous producers over the years have attempted to get the rights for a sequel or remake, the estate has turned them away quickly. In light of this, it's highly doubtful they'll change their stance any time in the near future.
