AICN Downunder: INTOLERABLE CRUELTY; PICASSO AT THE LAPIN AGILE; ONE PERFECT DAY; MAD MAX 4; MEAN MACHINE

Father Geek here with our reporter out in the Aussie bush, Tamsin, and she's got a few really cool tidbits of outback info for you this week, but before I put you in her capable hands I've got this bit that was on my Geek Headquarters PC this morning...

Dunno if this is new to you or not, but Vinnie Jones was being interviewed on Australian radio yesterday, and he was asked about the possibility of him reteaming with Guy Ritchie. He mentioned the current Madonna flick (which I dont think he's in) and said that Ritchie was writing 'a big war film' and he said 'hopefully he'll get the old "lock stock" crew together again and pay us all bugger all, I'd be happy to do that, work for scale for him'.

I think he's here doing promotion for 'Mean Machine' I haven't seen it and I dunno if its out in the states yet, but Jones said it has the same type of humour to it as Lock Stock and Snatch, though he would say that wouldn't he.

If your gonna use this and you want to give me one of them wonky code names call me...

Tom Regan.

Then I received this on the new MAD MAX flick from Mert the Surf...

Mel Gibson has gone on the record now that he wants to be in George Miller's upcoming Mad Max 4. If only the studios involved would let them get together. Gibson admitted to The Herald Sun showbiz editor Michael Bodey that "I don't know what I'm meant to say. George has a big family and he'll come and get me," he laughed. "He put a gag order on me for a long time." However now that the cat is out of the bag, Gibson confided that he was very familiar with George's script, but still "there's a lot more factors involved than just saying yes. I sometimes sit there and think, when the Hell are they ever going to trust me," he said. "Twenty five years with a few sixes and they still won't trust you."

Tamsin's got more on all of that below. Soooo with no further adieu ol' Father Geek will turn you over to her, and...

MAD MAX UPDATE

That latest is that Mel Gibson is interested in being involved in Mad Max 4. In a recent interview in Australia he has said,

"I want to and George wants to, but there's a lot of wrangling and weirdness that I can't even begin to explain in the business world of studio financing."

Mel was in Sydney to open a new theatre at NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Art), where he studied acting. He also donated about AUD $12 million to help fund the theatre. His advice to young actors: "Keep your nose to the grindstone and don't stop dreaming."
