Ok folks I know this comes out of the blue, but I can tell you this, I recently had a talk with a person at Centropolis FX that told me they recently read a new draft of the Fantastic Voyage script, but wouldn't illuminate. At the time I questioned this because I thought Emmerich and Devlin were moving into SONY... well maybe they've decided to not put all their eggs in one basket, perhaps when they committed to the Will Smith flick at Universal, they decided to call an ol bud at Fox. Whatever, I don't know. HAS ANYBODY HEARD ANYTHING RECENT ON THIS PROJECT? The last time I talked to Dean about such things, he said Fantastic Voyage was set in Japan, but hey, that could've been 90 drafts ago as far as I know. Also last I heard a cool pair of X-Files scribes Morgan and Wong were writing this. We'll see...
I have knowledge on what Devlin/Emmerichs next project will be. And that is Fantastic Voyage with ID4 thrown into the mix. Well you might ask how? And let me tell you that it involves Bill Pullmans President character becoming ill from the mind meld that occured with the alien in ID4. The only way to cure the illness is for a team of scientists to go inside his body and cure him. There not sure how or where the illness will effect the president. But this is the REAL DEAL. But then it takes a bit of a twist....The humans don't have the technology to shrink and get inside Mr. Pullman. But leave that to Jeff Goldblum and some reverse enginering of the alien technology and you have a "Body Pod" and "ZX Shrink Chamber". These two items I have just mentioned are deffinatley being constructed in pre-production. While I believe the story is being finalized by the "ID DUO" out in Hawaii or the Phillipienes. This has ALL been green lighted by FOX at a $95 million budget. And is Excpected to be released in during the CHRISTMAS season of 1999. I guess Fox is hoping to sweep them up in the spring. And rake them up in the winter.
