Little bits about John Ottman's Halloween Score!

You all know what a big fan I am of John Ottman's work as both an editor and a composer... well not too long after the news came about Ottman scoring H20, I got this report. Could the promise of a possibly great score make the difference between a rip-snorting anti-HALLOWEEN review from Hallenbeck and a kissy kissy Hallenbeck review? Well, perhaps a bit, but I think Joe will knock this film anyway, but hey, it's not what Joe thinks it's what you think, what we each think. I'm hoping it works....

I know you're a fan of John Ottman so when I heard some of his score to Halloween H20 I had to write you. The score can only be summed up as AMAZING!

Ottman has taken the original Carpenter score and added a Bernard Herman type flare. It was amazing to hear the *new* main title theme being played with a full orchestra instead of just a synth rendering of the same ol' piano chords that we've heard over and over again. There are some exhilirating moments within the score which really heighten the suspense and add a new respectability to the series. And there is a slight nod to Janet Leigh in one of her scenes with a small bit of the "Pyscho" theme orchestrated within John's.

By far better than anything any Meyer fans have ever heard. If you saw the film in a test screening with the temp score, YOU MUST GO SEE IT AGAIN!!! Ottman's score totally MAKES the movie! I'll definitely be buying THIS soundtrack!
