Alfred E Newman handed in this review of MAD CITY. An I worried that it's real or not? What me worry? Of course it's real. What sort of god would Alfred E Newman be if he didn't tell the truth, but he sure could score a film. Wait, is that right? Ahhhhh who cares, let's read about MAD CITY which looks to be kick ass!!!
"MAD CITY"
When I went to the local Promenade mall to snack on a swirl yogurt, I noticed a couple of people with green sheets in their hand, recruiting people for something. So I went over to one of them, and said "Is this for a test screening?"... The man pleasantly said yes, and asked me if I wanted to go... So, he asked me a few simple questions, and then handed me the ticket, and said "This film stars John Travolta and Dustin Hoffman. And that is all I can tell you."... Obviously, I knew right away that it was "Mad City".
So, I went to the theater (it's in the mall) that Tuesday at 5:05, and luckily I was the first one there... I waited and waited. And soon, the line was backed up to Seattle!
When we were finally seated, a man made an introduction saying "The film your about to see is "Mad City". We ask you to remain in your seats at the end of the film, so we can make another announcement. Enjoy the show."
I don't normally give films four stars, but with this one, I had to. The acting, the writing, the directing, were all suberb. The main message of this film depicts the lack of compassion that reporters have... I was amazed at the film. Sometimes the film was suspenseful, sometimes thought-provoking, sometimes funny, and others just brilliant. Even the music was great.
John Travolta and Dustin Hoffman's chemistry is excellent. They prove once more how great of actors they are. Who knows? Maybe an oscar nomination lies ahead. Who knows?
And we the audience were very lucky... we got to see the finished product. I strongly recommend that you see "Mad City" on November 7 other than "Starship Troopers".
Grade: **** out of ****
What? Blasphemy. See Hoffman and Travolta instead of giant bugs? This guy must be on something pretty heavy duty. I can't imagine. Perhaps it's bad clams?
