How reporting in the entertainment world should be done...

As a whole I tend to berate the entertainment reporting industry for a lack of investigative powers, but I read an article today that was so well balanced, so thoroughly investigated, that I just have to recommend it to all of you.

Remember months ago when you heard all those seedy allegations about Bryan Singer and the set of APT PUPIL? Well the articles everywhere seemed like they were out for Singer's hide, but here in this fantastic article by Jack Cheevers and Mark Ebner for the New Times LA, you see both sides of the quarter, and you really get down to the truth.

I've known Ebner for a while, I bump into him at film festivals when I get the chance, but I was very impressed with this article. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with the New Times LA and think that the brilliant investigative skills behind this article may go unread by thousands that read the initial reports. So go here http://www.newtimesla.com/1998/070298/feature1-1.html

Hopefully other news outlets will pick the story up and some of the harm of the initial reporting will be taken care of. It is the careless reporting of sensitive material that disgusts me with the biz from time to time, and when two reporters try to set that right all I can do is applaud their efforts. Great work guys.

To top everything else off, I have to say having seen the film, that the shower scene is short but VERY POWERFUL, only the sickest possible entity in the world could see something sexual in that. It's art, it's poignant and it was very necessary. One of the key pieces in assembling another great film for Bryan Singer. Don't let some puritanical creep keep you from seeing this movie this October, it's one of the best of the year.
