More BOND 20 Title Speculation!!

Hey, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab.

Okay. So the other day I reported on the rumor that MGM was going to title the new BOND film BENEATH THE SEA instead of the rumored BEYOND THE ICE. I got e-mail from several people in a position to know who told me that is not the title of the film. Absolutely, positively not the title of the film. Of course, they didn't tell me what the title is, so they weren't too overtly helpful.

There was also this e-mail, though:

Hi,

Two different Bond message boards now wonder whether "Colonel Sun" is the title.

I think my colleague Michael "Icebreaker" Kersey's reasoning is interesting:

"Colonel Sun" was the 1968 James Bond novel by British literary author Kingsley Amis, who used the pseudonym "Robert Markham".

Nick Kincaid

Okay. So the title is COLONEL SUN, right? This next e-mail should confirm that for us...

Pay close attention to the 20th Bond watch.

very interesting............

Hmmm. So they're calling it BEYOND THE ICE again. And this time, from an official licenser. Even though the inside sources who contacted me say it's not BEYOND THE ICE. Absolutely, positively not. Another e-mail added this to the mix:

There's a report on the TrekNation.com site that MGM registered "www.doublecross.com" as a domain name, along with "BondXX.com" with the XX standing for "double cross." Personally I think this sounds more like a 1960s spy movie than a James Bond title, but it's a lot better than "Beneath the Sea."

Ellid

Well, the "BondXX" domain name is indeed registered to the James Bond copyright holders, but www.doublecross.com is a site about copyright law in the 21st century, something you'd think the TrekNation site might check with a simple click. Ahhh... but when you actually go to TrekNation.com to find the original story, it doesn't appear to be in any recent archive of headlines. So what the hell? Are people that bored with recent news that they're just sitting around making up BOND 20 titles now and trying to lead people on wild goose chases? Tell you what... when EON Pictures and MGM put out one-sheets, then I'll believe the title. Until then, this all just gives me a headache...

"Moriarty" out.
