Aha!!! Luc Besson's next is a comic book adaptation of Michel Valliant!!!

Hey folks, Harry here... Well this makes sense. Luc Besson has been producing those TAXI movies, so he's been getting to know the speed demons that would help make this story come to life. What's nice is here is a racing film that is based on stories. For you non-French speakers of the world... and those of you that don't read Racing Magazines, Michel Valliant is the premiere racing character of the world wide comic word. He was created back in 1957 by Jean Graton. Valliant is a Formula 1 racer... he has a family... he smokes, he fishes, he goes to cocktail parties, he's easy on the eyes... He's the bomb basically. I've included some looks at the comic as well as the pics of the cars that are reportedly being used for the film...

Hey Harry,

Miffune!! here. Just reading this weeks Autosport and they carry an artical about Luc Besson teaming up with the crack french DAMS team (they have run Cadillac's cars for the past few years) and make a film based on the French comic book hero Michel Valliant. Valliant, who's carrer in books started in the 50's, is to "race" for his own Team Valliante in a Lola-Judd B98/10 while the baddies will race a good 'ol American Panoz LMP Roadster S.

Unlike in the 1970 "Le Mans", where the legendary Steve McQueen had the Le Mans entry list extended to include a Porsche 908 and asorted Lola T70's in Porsche body work, to be used to gather race footage, the DAMS cars will be full entries in the race, they have to actually qualify the cars to make the 48 car cut.

The cars will race for position in the race, only spending more time in the pits for work on the cameras and to change the body work, to play the team's second car. They are planned to return to Le Mans in August for further shooting with the main cast. No cast or drivers have been lined up yet. But as its Besson it bound to be fantastic, hell, it can't be worse than Driven!!

Hope this is news, later, Miffune!!
