Oliver Stone... Busy And Just As Crazy As Ever!!

Hey, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab.

Okay. So let me get this straight. First Oliver Stone does a long slow fade where he basically makes nothing for several years, disappearing completely in the wake of ANY GIVEN SUNDAY.

Then in the space of two days, two major stories break. First, Michael Fleming wrote in VARIETY that Stone is going to win the ALEXANDER THE GREAT sweepstakes in Hollywood by starting production on a film in India in October, starring Heath Ledger as the famed Macedonian military genius. That means he'll beat HBO and their 10-hour miniseries, Martin Scorsese and his Leo Di Caprio film, and Dino De Laurentiis and his Ridley Scott movie.

So you'd think that's all he'd be working on, right? That's the only thing that would be on Oliver's plate if he wants to be first, right?

Not Ollie. Instead, he's in Havana, working on a documentary tentatively titled LOOKING FOR FIDEL according to this story in VARIETY. I can see why Stone would be welcomed with open arms in a communist country. His films have always been openly critical of the United States, in particular in regards to our role in Vietnam. If he is able to get close to Fidel and really get him to speak from his heart, he could come back with something astonishing, and I definitely think it's worth keeping an eye out for this one whenever it's finished.

"Moriarty" out.
