Futurama 4.4 FAQ
What’s it called?
”Love and Rocket.”
Who’s responsible?
Teleplay credited to the hilarious Dan Vebber (the third-season “Lover’s Walk” and “Zeppo” episodes of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”).
What does TV Guide say?
“A veteran of space travel - and travails - in the ‘Alien’ franchise, Sigourney Weaver lends her voice to a Valentine-themed episode. Having secured a lucrative contract, the Professor upgrades the Planet Express ship, giving it a new voice (Weaver) that arouses Bender. The robot is so enamored that he takes to tickling the ship's controls to hear it laugh, which causes it to malfunction. Ship and robot quickly become an item. Then, just as quickly, Bender tires of it, picking a most inopportune time to say they should ‘just be friends.’ But like HAL in ‘2001: A Space Odyssey,’ the ship has its own ideas. Lucy Liu has a cameo.”
What is TV Guide not telling us?
Everybody gets new uniforms. The episode is teeming with homages to the HAL 9000.
It’s February and this is only the fourth new “Futurama” since last May? When did the last one air?
Jan. 6.
Is tonight’s as funny as the last new “Futurama,” “Anthology of Interest 2”?
Not even in the ballpark! “Anthology of Interest” was one of the funniest half-hours ever broadcast!
Prove to use you’ve seen this episode O Hercules! Not that we don’t believe you!
There’s a running joke about a “space cow.” There’s a gag involving Amy, a bikini and a mop. The entire, all-too-short visit to Omicron Persei Eight is hilarious, and offers some extraterrestrial perspective on a top-rated sitcom.
Has Herc seen this Sunday’s “Simpsons”?
He has! Titled “Half-Decent Proposal,” it benefits from a return visit from Jon Lovitz, but still stinks!
