Ok folks, the Batman 'Kurt Russell' rumors and a lot of the stuff you've been hearing recently comes from a fraudulent person in the newsgroups that's trying to make people think he's a screenwriter on the project, the same person is perpetrating a similar hoax regarding Tolkein newsgroups and The Hobbit film. These rumors are not to be trusted, they are erroneous. As for the 'Scarecrow' and the Arkham Asylum rumors, and the hallucinagen induced Jokers and Two Faces, that's stuff from Mark Protosevich's screenplay, that I have heard Warner's dropped before they dropped the ball on I AM LEGEND. Seems like a brilliant screenwriter can't win with those guys. So here we go, until Clooney publicly states that Warner Brothers has released him from their contract, well, that's who will be Batman, if there is to be another Batman film, which is not guaranteed. Tim Burton directing it again? No, he's either gonna do Superman Lives if they can fix it, or SLEEPY HOLLOW by Andrew Kevin Walker (Hey what is it with Batman directors and Andrew Kevin Walker?) Here's what Clooney said recently about Batman and A THIN RED LINE. His film OUT OF SIGHT is AMAZING, Danny DeVito's JERSEY FILMS did a great job giving Soderbergh the room he needed to make a great film (IMHO). Here's the scoop...
you can call me "Exodus", I am from detroit. Here Goes:
This sunday/today there was an interview with George Clooney in the local paper (Detroit Free Press). It started with some crap about Clooney talking about the rebirth of Detroit and his personal feelings on it from when he was here filming "Out of Sight" 6 months ago. Then got to the good stuff. Heres the last 4 Paragraphs:
Asked about trade paper rumors that Warner Bros. plans to revive the "Batman" series with Kurt Russell takeing the cape and cowl, Clooney expresses suprise: "I thought I had killed that franchise dead."
Clooney is actually under contract for another Batman movie, which means if he were replaced "sombody would have to tell me." Moreover he says he's wholly averse to taking another stab at it if a script could be fashioned "along the lines of the Dark Knight comic books. Thats great story, and it's never been told on film."
Next up, though, is another season, his last, of "ER." And there's a role in Terence Malick's Long-awaited World War II Drama "The Thin Red Line," the directors first film in twenty years. Clooney warns that his part in the big ensemble film which also stars Sean Penn, Woody Harrelson, Nick Nolte, John Cusak, Ben Chaplin, and half the young stars in hollywood, "is infinitesimal compared to Sean's and all the young guys" and he called end asked to be in the film only because Malick's "Badlands" is one of his all time favorites. "I told Terry I would carry the hammer box if he wanted me to," Clooney says. "Sometimes you don't care, you know? You just have to be there."
Well I hope this is of some use to you. I don't know about you but with all those great actors, and the direction of Terence Malick, "The Thin Red Line," should be a coooooool movie, I know I am excited. Okay well I hope I can report again, this is Exodus signing off.
