The Day The Music Died!

Father Geek here, I'll never forget where I was when I first heard... 7:48 AM... The Band Hall locker room... James Russell Lowell Junior High, San Antonio, Texas... I was in 7th grade and had just turned 14 a few days before... It was cold and cloudy... my best friend Dennis Keoler ran up... "Have You Heard!" Then with a crack of thunder it began to rain... from the sky... and from eyes.
February 3rd, 1959... a small plane crashed near Clear Lake, Iowa... and the music died... and in an instant Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and another of Texas' own J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson were no more.
"Chantilly Lace had a pretty face, and a ponytail hanging down... and a wiggle in her walk and a giggle in her talk that made the world go around... round... round..."
