Jet Li To Finance His Own Monk Flick

Harry here, well it is fairly typical of the west to not be as excited about a Buddhist monk flick as the regular heavy duty action Jet Li flick with no religious overtones. After all, no good Christian would pay to see a Buddhist kickass in New York when driven to it. (SARCASM) Well, luckily Jet's in a position to get it done himself. Here's Ye with the story...

Hi, Harry!

Ye is here!

Here is a scoop on Jet Li's A TIBETAN MONK IN NEW YORK:

At a news conference yesterday in Beijing, Jet Li confirmed that Miramax (?) had abandoned his A TIBETAN MONK IN NEW YORK project and he would do it by himself. He said, "(my next one) is also related to Buddhism. It's about a Tibetan monk visiting New York. Hollywood producers thought it was not a mainstream movie, therefore I will invest it alone with my friends." The Hollywood producers he was referring to are probably from Miramax. Maybe they thought this one got too much religious stuff and not enough actions. Or maybe they thought it was too similar to Chow Yun-fat's BULLETPROOF MONK. In 1997, Jet Li has thought about retiring but a Tibetan monk advised him, "you shall not give up. You have the duty and obligation to keep making movies."
