Father Geek here, con CoffinJoe, Jr. and another edition of our Tuesday Latin-AICN Column. Hope you enjoy it...

Hi there everyone, Coffin Joe Jr. here for another week of Latin-AICN.

Before we get to this week´s column, I just want to report something that has been around the net for a while now. The "Jeepers Creepers" sequel has a title, "Jeepers Creepers II: Like a Bat out of Hell". If you want even more info on the movie, check out the American Zoetrope website (Francis Ford Coppola´s production company site, at www.zoetrope.com), for character info, a plot description, etc. More gory fun is on the way, plus the latest Movie Maniacs line of action figures from Mcfarlane Toys, set to be released later this year, features an action figure of the Creeper. Oh, the joy!

US

-Jimmy Smits´ character in the upcoming "Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones", named Senator Bail Organa, is also going to appear in the next installment of the series, the still untitled Episode III, set for release in 2005. Check out the IMDB page for Episode III, which also has James Earl Jones listed as Darth Vader, plus other returning players, such as Frank Oz as Yoda, and Anthony Daniels as C-3PO.

-Gregory Nava, director of the 1997 Jennifer Lopez flick "Selena" and one of the writers on "Frida", is set to bring to the big screen the book "Killing Pablo", written by Mark Bowden (who also wrote "Black Hawk Down", which was the basis for Ridley Scott´s film currently in theaters in the US). Bowden himself is writing the screenplay. The book chronicles the rise and fall of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar.

Somber but moving is "La Ciénaga", Lucrecia Martel's debut and one of the most successful and youngest filmmaker productions from Argentina with its revived and thriving market of new films, as opposed to its tragic and relentless general economic instability.

-Director Beto Brant´s latest film, "The Trespasser", was awarded the Latin America Cinema Award this last week in the closing ceremony of this year´s Sundance Film Festival. Previously, Brant had been to Sundance with his 1998 thriller " Friendly Fire". "The Trespasser", Brant´s third feature film, deals with the story of two businessmen who hire a hitman to kill their other partner in a construction business, but end up being blackmailed by the hitman, as he takes over their company.
