Harry here... 9 of the last 12 years the winner of the PRODUCER GUILD AWARDS has gone on to win Best Picture. So it is a strong 75% chance that the pick of these 5 will go on to win BEST PICTURE. What is notable here is the absence of a Miramax contender. The inclusion of SHREK, though the new Animated Feature category might very well eliminate it from being nominated for Feature at the Oscars this year. This is the first time we've seen HARRY POTTER to show up on any of these lists. So that leaves us with 3 candidates that have been showing up on nearly all the awards lists for best picture, which have a strong following each. LOTR, BEAUTIFUL MIND and MOULIN ROUGE. I'd say it is a very strong bet that it will come down between LORD OF THE RINGS and A BEAUTIFUL MIND. Should be an interesting horse race, dontcha think? Here's the nominees...
