Sweet Jesus no. Just make a movie called Range, let it have nothing to do with SPEED and make it good. Don't force a sequel when you have an original script in your hands that you already like. Come on Fox guys, Speed 2 hurt the audiences respect for the title, if they ever had any to begin with, start with a great concept and make a great movie, don't force it into somesort of nightmarish fabricated sequel to fist down our collective gullets.
An interning source at FOX filled me in on a script floating around the studio called RANGE. Apparently its about a hijacked APACHE Helicopter over Los Angeles - the madman threatens to blow the city to bits if his demands aren't met in 2 hours. Buildings get blown up. Cars are shot up and LOTS of aircraft gets shot down. Meanwhile some chopper cop and a female reporter are stuck in a high-tech newscopter following the psycho. FOX wants it to be the 3rd SPEED flick (probably AIRSPEED) and would like the jumpstart the troubled series. Supposedly the script is actually GOOD for a change. Its possible I guess cuz Speed 2 made some cash overseas and opened to 14.3 over here. The first one was pretty cool. Graham Yost may do a rewrite of RANGE to make the hero Jack Traven. Of Course, Keanu, Sandra and Jan are definitely "not involved" which leaves the rumors that TV Guy Dylan McDermott may be on as the lead and Joanna Going (who?) as the chick. Dean Semler (Firestorm) might be attached as director. Jan DeBont made me seasick anyway. Speed 3...wow you think FOX would put more work into STAR WARS 1 instead of this stuff but hey -
