Hey folks, Harry here... I've heard from Sir Etch A Sketch on a phone call about this here Disney flick that it is exactly what needs to come out of Disney right now. It is weird, fun and cool as hell. Apparently it plays like something original and fun as opposed to calculated and bland. Having said that, this trailer is sure to confuse you quite a bit at first, but it has a point. It is very much about putting the image of what the Disney animated modern feature has been... and saying, this is something new and not at all like this. Which is cool. I like that. I've also heard that Dreamworks' SPIRIT is a damn fine film, totally unlike anything we've seen in traditional animation in a long time, if ever. Then there is LILO & STITCH by Disney. What is nice is that both films are not regurgitated standard fairy tales. Both are risks for both studios. Both are attempts to find something else that connects with children that isn't just the same old thing. There are rumors that Michael Eisner is looking to get out of the feature animation game... that he's wanting to turn Disney TV animation... the video sequels into being what represents Disney's Feature and Theatrical Animation department.... Churning out cheap, quickie sequels to classics that they push with a smaller print and advertising buy.... cleaning up on the Video sales and sort of turning feature animation into a Junk Bonds game. MEANWHILE fully developing the feature CG animation into being the real... SHOW-STOPPERS. And I'm not talking about Pixar. Rumor (and I say that again, RUMOR) has it that Eisner is set to screw Pixar a bit due to them not extending their deal with Disney... BUT right now, given the financial woes striking Disney, I can't imagine Eisner being stupid enough to alienating his current golden goose... If he does, I'd love to see Ted Turner structure a big hostile take over of Disney while their stock is weak, so that someone that gives a shit is in control again... or if the glory that is the new APPLE COMPUTER causes 234 million units sold, giving APPLE the superfunds to just take over DISNEY... putting Steve Jobs in Eisner's seat, which would be about the sweetest most wonderful moment in the history of Entertainment. Sigh... a dream is a wish your hear makes... laaah la da dee daaaahhhh...
