Now what went on:

The Host for the evening: Byron Allen

He was excellent. Very funny. I was shocked to think some guy from some tv show: Real People, that was on probably before I was born was this funny. He delivered his lines of ragging on everyone like flies to shit. An excellent host.

It started with a pretty decent dinner. At my table was: Jack Johnson (Lost In Space) with his dad, William B. Davis (Cigarette Smoking Man), Lucas Black (X-Files movie) and his parents and lots of 20th Century Fox reps.

I do have to say & hope this is printed, that the Fox people are some of the biggest Pricks out there. I represent a big portion of the Academy of Science Fiction and these guys had the nerve to bitch about who was at their dinner table. Nobody from any other studio, was what they said. Jack Johnson, was more or less doing the New Line Cinema deal. So some of the reps pulled aside Lucas Black to let him know not to speak to any of us. Would you believe that Shit. I was having an extremely good conversation with Lucas, who happens to be a very nice person when they pulled that. Lucas came back and told me that he didn't care what they said.

So with that in mind I wanted to mouth off, but did not. Some of the Presenters were funny too.

Lou Diamond Phillips presented Action/Adventure/Thriller and had lots to say about having our Science Fiction/Fantasy/ Horror Films banner extended to have the above mentioned award title put on.

Charles Fleischer did some funny singing for his presentation. He changed some of the nominations to the porn titled version:

Muffy The Vampire Layer
The Pimpsons
The Profilatic
The X- Files

John Carpenter looked good, so did Jennifer Tilly. She was wearing the most provocative dress with a picture design of the Virgin Mary near her crotch. Gene Simmons was plugging a new Motion Picture that is being made: a Kiss movie to be directed by Adam Rifkin (The Dark Backward).

There's someting for your site! Lou Diamond plugged his new Sci-Fi Action pic: Supernova being directed by Walter Hill. Ron Perlman was very nice. Another funny man was surprisingly Harland Williams (Rocketman), a annoying portion was the robot from Lost In Space always adding not funny coments.

I do have to add, (no kissing ass here) the nicest person (lots were pricks "Fox") was Bryan Singer. I first met him at "Beavis & Butthead Do America" screening at Paramount Studios a while back. He was very nice, polite and likes to talk. The only other person that ever talked as long as we did was Quentin Tarantino (actually an hour longer). I told him that I snuck into a movie view screening of "Apt Pupil" while in San Diego. Movie View people are such idiots, anybody from the industry can say their someone else & get in. He told me they only cut 3 scenes from that print. Nothing major. We also talked about his current project: The X-Men! He is and I repeat, HE IS now working on the film. Unlike the wait for Spiderman (Cameron), X-Men is being made. It will be the old X-Men, not the new guys. It's also not the script by Kevin Walker (Seven) that's floating around.

All in all it was a very funny and enjoyable event. Thanks to Dr.Reed & Robert Holquin for providing it. I want to say thanks to Bryan Singer for being the coolest guy there!

Dr. West

P.S.- I found out that Gene Simmons real name is not Gene Klein, but Chiam Witz, per our conversation.
