Hey folks, Harry here with a few tidbits about the LORD OF THE RINGS: FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING dvd... Now I have talked around about this a bit, I've heard that the fellas behind the FANTASIA DVD BOX set is putting the DVD together... Anyone that remembers that disc knows how friggin great it was. Now Barrie Osborne talks below about an eventual 9 hour cut of the 'trilogy' so that it becomes one long movie. Well, I've talked to one fella in New Line that says that what they would eventually like to see a 10 DVD set that was exhaustively complete. But that could never come about... as ultimately that's a dvd that is still... at least 3 years down the road. Right now they are focusing on this next DVD, which they seem to want to make very cool. It is possible that they'll have additional angles on some scenes... like the Bridge of Khazad- Dum scene... I can't wait for that disc though... its gonna get played to death...
"Fellowship of the Ring" DVD news !!! This is from (where else?) "DigitalBits.Com". Sounds frickin' SWEEEEEEEEEEEEET...

Now for more Lord of the Rings DVD news. The Urban Cinephile website recently posted an online interview with Barrie M. Osborne, who is a producer on the DVD project. Here's an excerpt from the article which pertains to the eventual DVD release of "Fellowship of the Ring":
"As for the DVD, Osborne promises it will be released just before the second film is released theatrically, and it will have on it a longer cut. And at some point, he admits, the 9-hour version of the trilogy ˆ- all three films, end to end -- is also a distinct possibility."
We're also hearing that in addition to the longer cut, you can expect numerous deleted scenes, audio commentary and extensive behind-the-scenes material (all of which is arguably a given). The DVD will at least be a 2 disc (and probably a 3-disc) release. And, as you've probably already heard (in recent comments by New Line's president for worldwide distribution and marketing, Rolf Mittweg, on TheOneRing.net), the disc is expected to be released in August, and include an exclusive preview for the next installment, "The Two Towers".
