Harry here... So, where do I place the odds of this one coming to pass? Well, Stanley Kubrick was often rumored and evidenced to be contemplating doing something along those lines. Many have pondered what would happen if a mainstream professional auteur filmmaker went in that direction... well would the public see it? Well, Sex is the great barrier in mainstream American film. The Sex Entertainment Industry is the huge untapped by mainstream Hollywood world.
Why make it Hardcore? Well, when Sam Peckinpah made WILD BUNCH, quite a bit of discussion went into why he made it so realistic. Well... it was to leave an impression... make it real... Make you sit up and pay attention. To do a film about a swinging lifestyle where it goes bad... To make the audience feel as scarred as the characters by the situation... Sometimes you might need to get graphic.
For example... Watch the International cut of De Palma's DRESSED TO KILL... then watch the U.S. domestic cut... There is a difference. When Nancy tell Michael Caine that she's thinking about the size of his COCK in those pants of his.... versus the size of the bulge in his pants... well, there's an impact difference... a shock level. In the International Cut you see Angie's fantasy shower masturbation scene... well, you see her having fingers pushed up into her... (well technically her body double) but all of a sudden you find yourself far more intimate with her than you had previously been.
At some point a mainstream filmmaker will cross that barrier... Will Ridley do it? Only he and his people know for sure, personally I hope he does. The only questions I would have is which theaters would play it, and what newspapers would carry the ads. Unfortunately that greatly inhibits the budget and the ability to make the film have the impact that we would need it to have to break the barriers that need to be broken.

First time writing you. I'll go directly to the skinny.
A friend of mine works at Mr. Scott's office just told me that Ridley is currently in plans to do a film about swinging couples in which a couple in their 50's has an affair with a couple in their 30's, everything goes great until the man in the younger couple goes berzerk and everything goes to hell. The older male then wil have to confront the younger, more strong one. There are going to be some extreme sex scenes in this movie, probably in the "X" rating.
He also told me that Ridley is considering Micheal Douglas for the older part but no casting has been done.
