STAR TREK 9!!!!

Robnhud here seems to have the script to STAR TREK 9, darn Trek flicks never seem to keep their scripts under wraps. Anyway, beware of spoilers. If ya just wanna know if he thinks it'll rock, suck or be good or ok... welll He seems to think it'll be pretty good. Now runaway if ya don't wanna know anything, if you do wanna know continue to read...

Here ya go Harry. The first review for ST9's (STILL untitled) script (not synopsis but SCRIPT). ENJOY!!!

Well folks... after reading the Third Draft (3rd of 5) I am actually optomistic about this one. I honestly believe Jon Frakes can pull it off. Now, I'll admit when I first heard about the "Fountain of Youth" storyline, I was a bit sceptical. But the more I thought about it, the more I liked it. AS LONG AS IT'S DONE RIGHT.

In the beginning.....

Joyful scene.. yadda yadda yadda... we've all read the synopsis... much like First Contact, this one opens up with a BANG! Jumps RIGHT into the action and unfolds two mysteries... 1. What the HELL is up with Data and 2. Who ARE those people in the duck blind and what the hell are they doing here? So suddenly we're thrown into a mystery.

I think there's a lot of opportunity to get some VERY good FX shots here. There's a shot of Data jumping in the air and decloaking in mid-air... as well as some great matte shots as well.

Some other parts I'm looking forward to seeing:

--Picard and Worf chasing/battling Data in shuttlecrafts

--the Son'a "facelift" chamber scenes

--The Ent-E battle against the Son'a in the Briar Patch

-- A chase scene in where free-floating drones shoot some of the Bak'u with isolinear tags only to have the Bak'u to be suddenly beamed away

There have been reports of the hokey Comedy scenes being toned down and the action scenes beefed up. After reading the script I can see where they can tone down the comedy... like Worf and Picard singing in the shuttlecraft to try and get Data's attention... since Worf doesn't know the words, on a coputer screen there's a bouncing kareoke style ball bouncing to the words of the song.... I don't think this scene will make it into the film... that part is a LITTLE TOO cheezy-- but hey... ya never know.

In this film we'll see a LOT more of what the Ent-E can do. We see the Captain's Yacht, the ship ejecting then detonating it's warp core, and we'll see Riker "pilot" the ship using a JOYSTICK instead of the usual controls. In First Contact, other than the opening fight scene which lasted only a couple of minutes then nothing. In this one the Outnumbered Enterprise has a MAJOR fight against a few other more powerful ships

Romance. Yes my friends, we have more romance in this one. Both Picard AND Riker both get their Mojo on in this one. Picard with Anij (sorry P/C fans) and Riker with Troi (about damn time)

In closing......

Well without giving away TOO much in way of details, I leave by saying, as a die-hard Trek fan, we REALLY DON'T have anything to worry about. A lot is going to be riding on the shoulders of this film and I honestly think it will VERY well at the box office.

Prediction: $105+ million Domestic
Biggest opening weekend in Trek history.
