I also was lucky to be invited to what we were told was one of the first test screenings of Mighty Joe Young. First off, Joe is amazing looking. This gorilla does not look CGI at all. Remember how fakey those monkeys in Jumangi looked? Well, I don't know what advances have been made, but Joe looks like a real gorilla. The acting is pretty decent, and the villians sufficiently bad- guy-esque. Although I did think the Russian accent was a bit much. Be warned: this is a Disney movie and parts do get a bit sentimental. But trust me, you won't care. The action is inventive and funny, and the story is...well a solid story. This movie is the epitomy of how a sympathetic-15 foot-gorilla-out-of-water story should be done. It will do very well at the box office.
Thanks a lot for reading my little ditty, Harry.
Sincerely,
Rob-Ot
