Well new spy Rob-Ot signed in for his first gig with a review of Kevin Williamson's KILLING MRS TINGLE script, and his test screening review of MIGHTY JOE YOUNG. This guy gets around... cool. There are a few spoilers here and there, so watch your footing, ya don't want to fall in...
Hello, I'm a first time writer to Ain't-It-Cool. Just call me, "Rob-Ot".
I saw the recent write-in about getting the Killing Mrs. Tingle script soon and had to laugh. I read the thing about two months ago. Thought I'd write in since you didn't seem to have a review yet. First let me say, unless the casting is awful or the direction completely off...this movie should be wonderful. I'm not much for spoilers myself, so I'll keep them out of my synopsis but give you the general outline of the work.
WARNING: IF YOU DON'T EVEN WANT THE SETUP, DON'T READ!
The lead character in my draft dated 1/16/98 is Leigh Ann Prescott (ha, ha Kevin). She is best friends with Jo Lynn, and both are seniors in high school. Leigh Ann is struggling hard to become valedictorian for graduation, but is pitted against Mary Beth Carter, who is the other school brainiac and a total "Heathers"-esque pain in the arse.
Leigh Ann is ahead of Mary Beth in every subject but History. The class that Mrs. Tingle teaches. Mrs. Tingle hates Leigh Ann and loves Mary Beth. Pretty much everyone hates Mrs. Tingle (even the administration). Well, to cut to the chase, the school bad-ass, Luke Churner, has a crush on Leigh Ann. He gets her and Jo Lynn in trouble when he brings a beer into school and Tingle catches them. She is going to use this to get Leigh Ann, but it's Friday and she can't turn her in as it is the end of the day. This leads to Leigh Ann, Jo Lynn, and Luke going to Mrs. Tingle's house and the hi-jinx begin.
There are many great comedic scenes in the film and plenty of supporting characters: the gym teacher, school principal, Mary Beth, and others. Of course, what would a Williamson project be without a little teen pre-marital sex. Overall, while this movie doesn't re-invent the wheel, it certainly gives it all weather treads.
