An Investigation into the world of David Twohy's Future. DEMON WITH A GLASS HAND, CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK and A vs P!!!

Hey folks, Harry here... Ever since that review of BELOW a week or two ago, I've been calling up sources all over the place to see what I could find out about what is going on in the world of David Twohy.

One would assume that the next thing on Twohy's plate was THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK (aka Pitch Black 2). Well, that is over at Universal, so after a bit of digging I found out where that project is pretty quickly. It seems that David Hayter had turned in a draft that is now being retooled by Akiva Goldman. Now before you start roasting Akiva again, let me remind you that Akiva's A BEAUTIFUL MIND script seems to have made a wonderful film by Ron Howard by all accounts thus far. And as I've been saying for years, it isn't Akiva's scripts that have been sucking, it has been what the directors and talent have done with them. Nowhere in his first draft of BATMAN & ROBIN did it say bad neon lighting or the line, "KILL DA HEEEEE ROWS!" In talking over at Universal, it seems that they are unsure if Twohy will be the director or not. It seems he has always either retooled heavily or wrote from scratch most of his material, but he is attached, till he decides otherwise. I suppose that'll depend upon Akiva's draft.

We had heard that Twohy was working on a feature adaptation of DEMON WITH A GLASS HAND with Harlan Ellison. I had talked briefly with Harlan back this summer and found out that when Harlan originally came up with DEMON WITH A GLASS HAND for OUTER LIMITS, he had envisioned it as being his science fiction take on NORTH BY NORTHWEST... Making it a bit of an epic, but of course Outer Limits didn't have that sort of budget, so in the best BIG CLOCK tradition, he enveloped it into the hull of a building. Making it quite claustrophobic. Well, the latest word on their work on DEMON has been quite promising but that Harlan and David have not yet finished it, but that the rights are all clearly in place now to make a feature adaptation, but it doesn't seem to be set up anywhere... yet. But with the word on BELOW being what it is, perhaps DIMENSION will want to extend their relationship with Twohy with this project... we can hope.

Also there have been rumors that David Twohy has become attached to direct and write ALIEN VS PREDATOR. We've seen these pop up in a few places. It seems that my sources at Fox have told me that these rumors might very well be true. It seems that Fox and Davis Entertainment have approached David Twohy to completely rework the project for them. There has yet to be a deal worked out, but apparently Twohy is working up his take and the folks at Fox are anxious to hear that. So, we'll have to wait and see wait happens with that!

In the meanwhile, it looks like there seems to be a host of things around Twohy at the moment, including Dimension's upcoming BELOW.
