Harry here... I'm typing with my chin right on top of my hands and my nose nearly touching the screen... the reason? These dang SONY headphones that I have that have excellent audio quality have the shortest cord known to exist and this is as far as I can be from the computer and hear this amazing score...
I suppose I'm lucky I started my connection before I posted the first part of the story, as this keeps me able to have a really great listening experience... But onto the score...
Unfortunately on these streaming things it doesn't tell you which part you are listening to at any given time... UGH... However, this is a score of amazing beauty. I wish that I could pump it through my Dolby Digital Surround Sound and just sleep to this thing, wake to this thing and write to this music.
I can't write a proper review without the disc itself, but my general impression is that Howard Shore has knocked this one so far past the outfield fence... It's like Stephen Chow in SHOALIN SOCCER when he kicked that can.... He used Shoalin Martial powers to this baby... From the Hobbit-y music to the Fellowship sounding themes to the deep dark evil black chanting and drums and anvil strikes to that ungodly beautiful child soloist coming out of all that deep dark evilness... Just sterling. I need to hear this proper. There are moments of profound sadness and introspection... moments were the music pumps adrenaline hard... parts where I smile and almost giggle... HOWARD SHORE? YOU IS THE MAN!
