Well sometimes it just rains info on a project, and today that project is TARZAN, I had three separate spies write in on this, and one even sent pics. Personally, I love the design they have for the characters in TARZAN, that I've seen so far. The weakest link I've heard of so far is the eck.. Rosie O'Donnell ape. Sounds like echos of a Gilbert Gottfred PARROT... Cotton balls, they block noise.... Well here's the first report from the publisher...
Just got back from a networking conference (whee!) here in San Jose, where I attended a session entitled "ATM: The System Behind the Story at Walt Disney Feature Animation." I'd gone there on a lark, hoping I might catch a glimpse of some cool future Disney projects.
Four of Disney's technology gurus ran through their recent history in using network technology in the production of their films. They also discussed CAPS (Computerized Animation Prouction System) in the context of how it helps them push the creative edge -- both in digital ink and paint and in computer multiplane effects.
After some nuts and bolts presentations covering the nature of their network (linking Paris, Orlando, Burbank Northside and Southside), they ran a "3D workbook" reel from Dinosaur. It was introduced as a mix of live-action backgrounds with CG characters that should be coming out sometime next year.
